Assefa Admassie has been the Executive Director of the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute (EEPRI) at the Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA), and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Addis Ababa University since 2004. EEA has been actively engaged in Economic research, training, organization of conferences and discussions on the Ethiopian economy and the dissemination of these activities through its journals and publications since 1991, and since the establishment of its research wing, the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute (EEPRI) in 2000.

Previously, he was an Associate Professor and Department Head at the Addis Ababa University, Department of Economics, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Development research – University of Bonn.

He holds a PhD from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. His specialization is in Development Economics.
