Between trust and scepticism: Public confidence in institutions

Internationally, measures of institutional trust are seen as a ‘good thermometer of malaise’ in a country.
Since 2003, a set of questions included in the annual SASAS, asked a nationally representative sample of people older than 16 their views on their levels of trust in a series of important public and private institutions. Ben Roberts analyses the findings.
