Ghana, Ethiopia and Cape Verde reports to UN ECOSOC's Annual Ministerial Review
July 2007
United Nations Economic and Social Council
At its July 2007 meeting, these African countries (with Bangladesh, Barbados, Cambodia) tabled reports on MDG issues. The presentations focussed on: (a) successes and challenges identified through national consultative processes in the implementation of national development strategies designed to achieve internationally agreed development goals, including the MDGs, (b) the main accomplishments, challenges and the initiatives each country undertook to address identified challenges, and (c) obstacles to implementation that require regional and global cooperation.
Additional questions dealt with in the national reports include:
-
What is the country's most urgent developmental concern and what has been done so far to address it?
-
What would be necessary in the country for raising resources and attracting investment towards the achievement of the national development strategies?
-
How can the international community best plan its financial support for the goals of the national development strategy, and improve the effectiveness of aid and predictability of other types of support to your country's effort?
