This session will focus on achieving the health MDGs - with a specific focus within this on maternal and child health. It will assess the role and potential of innovative partnerships, innovative financing, and scientific and technological innovation. The background papers include the material circulated for the 13^th APF on the impact of the crisis on health.

Issues for Discussion:

1. Are we right in identifying maternal and child mortality as a key concern?
2. What action needs to be taken by African governments?
3. What action needs to be taken by the G8 and other Development Partners?
4. How can we increase the part played by innovative partnerships and innovative financing?
