APRM Secretariat
Call for Submissions
Since its inception in 2003, the APRM has won acclaim worldwide as a novel way for showcasing Africa’s thinking on governance. However, as might be expected, the implementation of an enormous and complex undertaking such as the APRM has been fraught with a number of challenges, ranging from methodological and operational to the tools and processes. These challenges have been highlighted at various fora including the African Governance Forum (AGF) VI meeting on the APRM in Kigali in May 2006 and the Algiers Workshop on the APRM in November 2007.
In response to these implementation difficulties, the APRM is embarking on a Project for Streamlining and Fast Tracking the Implementation of the African Peer Review Mechanism.
The project entails seven inter-related components:
- Revision of the APRM Methodology and Processes (Assignment A)
- Revision of the APRM Assessment Questionnaire (Democracy and Political Governance) (Assignment B1)
- Revision of the APRM Assessment Questionnaire (Economic Governance and Management) (Assignment B2)
- Revision of the APRM Assessment Questionnaire (Corporate Governance) (Assignment B3)
- Revision of the APRM Questionnaire (Socio-economic Development) (Assignment B4)
- Development of an NPOA Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (Assignment C)
- Elaboration of Modalities for Enhancing the Participation of Civil Society in the African Peer Review Mechanism (Assignment D)
The APRM now wishes to invite submissions from member countries, technical research institutions, think-thanks, civil society organizations, women’s organizations, rural populations, media, private sector representatives and all segments of society who have an interest in the APRM to provide any suggestions of improvements on the above 7 areas.
Submissions should be received by 31st April 2010. Submissions may be sent to: Rosemary Khissa at: rosemaryk@dbsa.org, Peter Wandwasi at: peterw3@dbsa.org or mailed to the APRM Address Po box 1234 halfway House, 1685, South Africa or dropped off at the APRM offices at Cnr New Road and 6th Avenue, International Business Gateway, Cnr Challenger & Colombia Avenue, Gateway Park B, 1st Floor, Midridge Park Building, Halfway House, South Africa
