Welcome to the Ninth Edition of the Africa Local Government Action Forum (ALGAF)

The Municipal Development Partnership for Eastern and Southern Africa (MDP-ESA) is happy to announce and welcome old and new members to the ninth edition of ALGAF which runs from February to November 2009. This edition is divided into four modules on: (a) Corruption; (b) Crime Violence and Security; (c) Climate Change and Food Security; and (d) Local Economic Development and the MDGs. The overall objective of ALGAF is to provide a platform for structured dialogue on key issues and challenges influencing Decentralization and Local Governance in Africa.
ALGAF is managed by MDP-ESA in collaboration with National Associations of Local Government and Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) Distance Learning Centres in: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. This forum is made possible with financial support from the World Bank Group and the Human Sciences Research Council. Sessions are delivered through videoconference every first Friday of each month. Sessions run for 3 hours from 10.00 - 13.00 hours Southern Africa Time, 11.00 - 14.00 hours East Africa Time and 08.00 - 11.00 hours West Africa Time
Target audience include Mayors, Councillors, Technocrats, Municipal Managers, Trainers and Researchers, Civic Activists, Private Entrepreneurs, Journalists, Environmentalists, Gender and Development Experts etc....
