Objectives
The overall objective of the course is to sensitize programme planners and programme/project managers on gender issues, strengthen their skills on gender analysis and mainstream gender in development projects. In the long term, the training aims at creating gender-responsive constituency within sub-Saharan Africa with the capacity to incorporate gender concern at all levels of planning, implementation and evaluation of development projects.
Specific Objectives:
- Strengthen participants understanding of the gender concept
- Discuss gender focused approach as an alternative to women in development
- Develop capacities for gender analysis skills, using several tools
- Strengthen theoretical and practical skills of participants in mainstreaming gender in management,policy analysis, project planning, implementation and evaluation

- Gender concept and gender sensitization
- Engendered techniques in project identification
- Formulation and designing gender sensitive projects, logical framework
- Gender analysis tools
- Gender dimension in project management, monitoring and evaluation
- Incorporating gender and Environment in Development Projects and Programmes
- Proposal writing
- PRA/RRA /PAL/PAR Methods and Techniques
Target Group
The course is designed for men and women project planners and project management staff/trainers drawn from governments, NGOs training institutions and the private sector, who are involved in planning projects, managing projects or training others on project planning and management. Learners should come to the course with a copy of an ongoing project/programme or one in the pipeline.
