ANSA-Africa is seeking 3 Executive Committee members

The Affiliated Network for Social Accountability (ANSA) in Africa, hosted by the Economic Governance Programme of Idasa, is currently seeking three new Executive Committee members to guide the work of the ANSA-Africa Network.
The role of the Executive Committee (EXCO) The Executive Committee is responsible for:
- Overseeing the work of the Secretariat;
- Considering and approving the objectives, plans of action, strategic plans and policies for ANSA-Africa;
- Approving a system designed to monitor and evaluate the work of ANSA-Africa;
- Considering, and where appropriate, adopting proposals presented to it by the Secretariat;
- Adopting and amending ANSA-Africa’s constitutive documents;
- Adopting the annual budgets and supervising the finances of ANSA-Africa;
- Providing direction and support to the Secretariat in procuring adequate funds for the operations of ANSA-Africa.
Duration of EXCO membership Members to the EXCO are elected for a three year period only but their membership can be renewed upon the end of their first term.
Nomination Process Anyone can nominate themselves or another person. The members must be experts in social accountability, the development sector and broader governance issues in the African context. Experts from the public, voluntary or private sectors may apply. The Secretariat is seeking members who can each represent the West Africa Francophone, Lusophone and Anglophone African regions. It is preferable for all the members to be multi-lingual. The members must be available at least three times per year for EXCO meetings that will be held either face-to-face or via video conferencing.
Nominations should reach the Secretariat no later than 15th March 2010.
Application Process Nominees are required to submit a full CV with a covering letter explaining the candidate’s suitability to the position. All applications should reach the Secretariat no later than 22nd March, 2010.
